Grameen Koota was established in May 1999, CreditAccess Grameen Limited previously known as Grameen Koota Financial Services Pvt. Ltd. This services works as a project under the T. Muniswamappa Trust (TMT), an NGO in South Bangalore. CreditAccess Grameen was instinctive out of the need for timely and reasonable credit to India’s poor and low-income households.
Grameen Koota was envisioned by Mrs. Vinatha M. Reddy in last month 1996, inspired by the book ‘Give Us Credit’ by Alex Counts. The book comprehensive remarkable stories of Bangladesh’s poor people’s microfinance movement. The company focuses largely on clients in rural areas in India, who largely lack access to the formal banking sector and present a latent opportunity for offering micro-loans. Grameen Trust, Bangladesh, provided seed capital funding to TMT to duplicate the Grameen Bank Bangladesh microfinance model.
