Welcome to Financial Statement Detective, an interactive fundamental analysis game from StockMaster Universe where you investigate fictional companies and uncover what their financial statements are really saying.
Instead of answering traditional finance quiz questions, you become a financial detective. Each case gives you a company’s simulated financial information, including revenue, profit, operating cash flow, free cash flow, debt and important financial ratios. Your job is to investigate the evidence and decide whether you would INVEST, AVOID or WAIT.
The game is designed to teach an important principle of fundamental analysis: one financial number rarely tells the whole story. A company can have impressive revenue growth while its cash flow deteriorates. Another company may have moderate sales growth but steadily improving margins, returns and free cash flow.
During each investigation, you can examine clues relating to business growth, profitability, cash generation, debt, earnings quality and financial risk. You then make your investment decision and reveal the financial mystery to see whether your interpretation matches the strongest conclusion for that simulated case.
Financial Statement Detective covers practical concepts including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow, free cash flow, net margin, ROE, ROCE, debt-to-equity, interest coverage, working capital, inventory, receivables, dividend sustainability and value traps.
